a catalyst to live a green(er) lifestyle

the Red, White, Blue, and now the GREEN

November 5th, a day of reflection on history. History made about 24 hours ago here in the midwest electing Barack Obama to the 44th President of the United States of America. Now that we have a new Commander in Chief, we have a new leader to direct us within the realm of energy independence. But this platform shouldn’t be entirely politically initiated. This needs to start now. This needs to start with us. Gov’t is only going to enforce regulations. Its up to the to the people that claim Red, White, and Blue to save this planet. So many resources are taken for granted. And not enough businesses follow social responsibility.

I enjoy seeing the IBM commercials where they realize how much money is spent on energy costs then you see talking comical animals. Not how I exactly envision going green, but hey, it made me laugh.

President Elect Obama has said in his energy platform that he wants to add 5 million ‘green’ jobs, and I’m assuming that some of these jobs will be created from the development of the 1 million electric cars he wants to get on the road. Which is a great idea. I fully support and will endorse electric cars when they get up to 150 miles in travel per charge. Right now 40 miles per charge isn’t bad, but the increase in distance-to-charge will make these cars more appealing to energy conscience individuals.

These are all great ideas, right? They are when put into motion, so lets do our part and endorse a green living!
