O’Fallon Journal to be subscription only starting Nov 5th
I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or what, but my local Journal is now only delivering on subscriptions only! This is great! This means people will only get the paper because they want it, not because the Journal wants to pump out subscriptions to increase volume for ad revenue. Even if this service didn’t force the Journal to stop delivering free papers, I’m happy that the Journal decided to make the effort to only print what is needed and to be more environmentally friendly.
Who needs a print paper anyway. I understand generations are different and the baby boomers and generation Xers probably read the paper. But now-a-days there is so many channels to get news; computer, TV, phones, radio. Which are a easier on the environment and don’t kill unnecessary trees. In fact, the Journal has an RSS feed so I don’t even have to step away from my computer to get the content from the paper, its sent to my RSS feed and I can browse through the headlines and open the articles I find interesting.
